The UT Bike Day is collaboration between the University of Tennessee Outdoor Program, Make Orange Green, and the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization. The goals of this special event, held on September 2nd, are to help raise awareness of alternative transportation among the University community, focusing specifically on cycling. Events of the day will attempt to be fun, while being informative and helping to remove constraints individuals may have to successfully using alternative methods of commuting.
To have maximum visibility, a tent will be set up on the pedestrian walkway on campus, that will help to distribute materials, answer questions, and promote other activities on the day of the event. Events of the day include bike rides highlighting commuting, a slow bike race, pedal powered smoothies, and more.
