If you never climbed before and don’t know how to belay, a belay clinic and belay test is required to climb the 30′ tall top rope climbing wall.
The 1.5 to 2 hour belay clinic (limited to 6 people) teaches the skills required to belay (which is the process of controlling the climber’s rope) and climb. You’ll learn how to wear a harness, tie the figure-8 follow through knot, use a carabiner with a belay device, climbing communication, and practice belaying with a climber.
24 hours after taking the clinic, you can take the belay test. The belay test is free and a score of 100% is needed to pass. (Climbers who already know how to belay only need to take the free belay test anytime during open wall hours.)
You may use your own modern style climbing harness and belay device.
