Description

We will drive down to the scenic and protected Georgia seashore to set up camp at Crooked River State Park on the first night.  The next day we depart the mainland for the National Seashore of Cumberland Island with only what we can take in our sea kayaks for the next 5 days.

Cumberland Island is a undeveloped island in the National Park system with wild horses and crazy raccoons.   After paddling out to the island we will land on the inland side of the island to explore and camp for the first night.  The next day we will paddle around to the ocean side, exploring the Atlantic coast and landing to explore the ruins of the Dungeness mansion.  We will set up camp underneath the maritime forest and mix the remaining days of exploring the island by kayak and by foot. The maritime forest has some of the best trees for hammocks.
