Paddling, biking, hiking, and climbing all in one week!
Get a taste of everything the outdoors has to offer with this multi-adventure trip. Explore locally and learn it all.
The duckie (aka inflatable) kayaking….
“That was amazing!” you yell as as the raft reaches the calm pool at the bottom left of the class III rapid, Nanny Falls.
You gasp for breath with a huge smile on your face. Your trip leader calls for a paddle high-five, and your friends happily smack paddles overhead.
As the swift current moves your inflatable kayak through the last baby rapids, your eyes drift up, and up a little more to the top of the gorge several hundred feet above.
The mountain biking….
Remembering what your instructor taught that morning, you stay in the downhill position, fingers over the brakes but you don’t press down just yet. The adrenaline and nervous excitement of going fast make you smile . You hear your friends laughter and shrieks through the trees as they descend in front of you.
Everyday is something different, ranging from whitewater rafting a class III/IV river, mountain biking single (narrow) and double track (wide) forest trails, and climbing sandstone cliffs plus another day to repeat an adventure or go for a scenic hike.
Our student-staff and seasoned graduate assistant (she recently rafted the Grand Canyon in the winter on a personal trip!) of the Outdoor Program will teach you everything you want to know about these adventure sports.
Nights are spent under the stars, cooking the best meals you’ve had all semester with the staff before you curl up with hot chocolate around the campfire, before crawling into your tent, dreaming of more adventure.
There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting Monday, March 6th at 6pm for an hour to discuss equipment, food, logistics, answer questions, and meet your new friends.
