See shooting stars in the Smoky Mountain night sky!
It’s just you and other fellow night owls staring at a million bright dots.
A million bright dots lie against the black void with a stunningly visible Milky Way in the background. It’s just you and 7 other night owls, plus instructors talking about life, as one seems to do when staring into nothing.
“Isn’t it amazing that these stars haven’t really changed since we walked the plains of Africa?” says Annie, a sophomore in political science.
“Ya! I don’t know how we sailed across the oceans before GPS. I just see a ton of stars, except the Big Dipper and Orion and only because ya’ll just showed me,” replied Jamie, senior in industrial design, to Annie and Nikki, the trip instructor.
For this night hike, we’ll head to a dark area, well away from the lights of Knoxville. The exact location could change due anticipated cloud cover; we want to make sure you get to see the most stars.
This trip is for you if you:
