2022 TIRSA State Workshop

Join collegiate recreation students and professionals from across the state for education and dialogue on January 27th and 28th.  The host committee is excited to facilitate this virtual state workshop aimed at bringing together institutions within the state and beyond to better collegiate recreation in Tennessee.

VIRTUAL – ALL TIMES ARE EASTERN STANDARD TIME

    • 1:00 – 1:45: Hangout with TIRSA
      • Description: Attendees will be greeted by the TIRSA State Director (Sean C. Basso, Ph.D.) and members of the host committee.  Attendees will then be randomly placed in small group breakout rooms to causally engage with their colleagues from across Tennessee.
    • 1:45 – 2:30: Traditional Roundtables – Round 1
      • Description: Topics include the following:
        • Competitive Sports (IMs & SCs

        • Directors Roundtable

    • 2:30 – 3:15: Traditional Roundtables – Round 2
      • Description: Topics include the following:
        • Legal Liabilities & Risk Mitigation
          • Facilitator: M. Wolk, Vanderbilt
        • “Ideas I haven’t tried yet” (Innovation)
          • Facilitator: H. Darby, ETSU
        • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
          • Facilitator: D. Davenport, Austin Peay

    • BREAK (15 minutes)
    • 3:30 – 4:15: COVID-related Conversations
      • Description: Attendees will be gathered in the Central Zoom meeting room.  Attendees will be placed in small-group breakout rooms, led by experienced facilitators who will engage attendees in discussions related to the COVID-19 Pandemic and its impact on our lives, careers, and work environment.
      • Facilitators Include:

    • BREAK (30 minutes)
    • 4:45 – 5:45:  Virtual Trivia
      • Description: Finish the first day of the workshop by participating in a fun and interactive round of virtual trivia.

    • 10am – 11:30am: TIRSA’s Open Positions
      • Description: Schools will have the opportunity to facilitate a 25-minute information session with attendees regarding any open position(s) for hire in the upcoming semester/year.  Schools will be asked to repeat the session 3 times as to allow for attending more than 1 session.
    • 11:30am – 12pm: General Closing – TIRSA Moving Forward
      • Description: The TIRSA State Director will provide information related to TIRSA, Region II, and NIRSA.
