Experienced riders ride in separate groups.
3pm day of each ride.
Register online or in person (in the Outdoor Center, lower level of TRECS between 12-6pm, M through F)
Free with your own mountain bike! Includes instruction.
Mountain bikes can be rented for this group ride for $5 (normally mountain bikes are $12 for 24 hours). Includes helmet.
How to Get There
You must provide your own transportation. If you have a car or truck, please bring it if you are willing to provide a ride. We can transport bikes in a pickup. In the past, carpooling has worked well for everyone.
A group of 10 hang out on the couches of the Outdoor Center, chatting loudly about mountain bikes and weekend plans while the last people get their bike tires aired up and chain lubed. The energy and eagerness to hit #SoKno trails is high.
Once you get riding, you realize how high you’ve ridden and see the view overlooking K-town to the north and Smokies to the south. ‘I did it!’ you think, happy the climb is over.
Other group members start appearing around the turn that leads to the hill’s top. You cheer them on, giving them a high five as they reach you. This is your first group mountain bike ride and you are stoked!
At the parking lot, the instructors divide everyone into groups based on experience mountain biking. Those new to mountain biking and those looking to improve get their own instructors while those who just want to charge and know the trails will head out on their own.
