Sequoyah Park - Tennessee River, TN
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, April 10, 2018
Learn to standup paddleboard (SUP) on Knoxville’s blueways
SUP provides a unique view of the river, with the vertical stance providing better viewing into the river bottom. If you can stand, you can paddleboard.
I liked the fact that even though it was my first time attending a trip [paddleboard trip], the leaders made it easy to learn what to do.
Starting at Sequoyah Hills Park, you slowly paddle the Tennessee River. To your left, across the river, rise 80 foot high bluffs. To your right, the beautiful homes of Sequoyah Hills. The late afternoon breeze and the refreshing waters of the Tennessee keep you cool.
The great blue heron hunts, its long beak poised and ready to grab dinner. A belted kingfisher, with an air of self-importance, gives a piercing call as it flies by looking for new water to hunt.
Discover the sensation of gliding across the top of the water, the ability to see deep into the depths of the Tennessee River, and make some new friends along the way.
This blend of kayaking and surfing is the hottest new water sport – and is a great way to get exercise and catch the sunset. Why head inside to the gym when you can catch some sun and surf the Tennessee River?
You will get wet while learning to stand up paddleboard.
