You are next up, time to focus on getting to the top of Joker 6 & Thief 5. The first attempt went well, but the tips on improving your footwork should come in handy on the second attempt. Eager and ready to reach the top, you start up the 5.9+ climb.
“Remember you feet!” shouts up your instructor, Amylee, as you approach the difficult section. “You can do this! There you go, come on… Yes! You’re past the hard part. Rest for a moment before you finish it,” she coaches from the ground.
Back on horizontal ground, slightly out of breath but smiling, you high-five Amylee. “Thanks for the cheering and the reminder.”
This is the perfect way to spend an afternoon at the start of the semester. The weather is warm, the trees still green, and cardinals singing their melody pure and true.
Ijams Crag ranges in height from 25-40 feet of beautiful Tennessee marble; the same marble used in many of Knoxville’s (as well as Washington DC’s) buildings.
At a 13 minute drive and 10 minute hike, you’ll experience plenty of climbing without having to travel.
