Catch the sunset from the summit with the best view in Knoxville
After just a few days of being on campus, you really want to get outside, meet new people, and take a break from the business of the start of the semester.
House Mountain State Natural Area, at 2,100 feet tall, is the perfect hike to get out for some fresh air, see wildlife, and snap Instagram worthy pics of the mountains around Knoxville.
Just 30 minutes from downtown, House mountain overlooks the Tennessee River Valley with the Smokies, Unaka and Cumberland mountain ranges in the near distance.
And the sunsets from the summit aren’t too shabby either!
The 5.8 mile round trip trail is enough to get your blood pumping but easy enough for an evening hike. We’ll provide headlamps for hiking back down in the twilight. You just bring yourself, a small school pack for water and snacks.
After this hike, you and your new friends talk about tackling other day hikes to higher peaks!
No experience required; complete beginners welcome.
