General Membership Types

Enrolled Student

• UT students are members of the RecSports facilities/programs and automatically receive access privileges during the semesters in which they are enrolled upon payment of their Student Programs & Services Fee (SPSF).
• UT online students are able to purchase a monthly membership ONLINE (not to exceed current semester) for $27 per month.

Faculty/Staff Options

• Payroll Deduction: Regular, full-time faculty/staff at UTK are eligible for a monthly payroll deduction for a RecSports membership. Use this form to submit a request for a payroll deduction.
• Online Payment-in-Full: All faculty/staff members are able to purchase a RecSports membership online. Please access this LINK to, register/sign into a MyRecSports account, and purchase your desired membership.
• Two-Week Trial: All faculty/staff members may register for a free two-week (14 consecutive days) trial membership (one per year). Please stop by the Membership & Outreach office (main floor of TRECS) to activate during normal business hours.

• Faculty & Staff member: $27 per month or $324 per year*

Retiree Options

• Online Payment-in-Full: All retirees with valid UTK Retiree ID card are able to purchase a RecSports membership in-person at our Membership & Outreach office (main floor of TRECS.) For renewing a retiree membership, please access this LINK for signing into your MyRecSports account.

Retiree Rates

• Retiree with valid UTK Retiree ID Card: $150 per 6 months or 300 per year*

*Available for online renewal through the RecSports online portal.

All memberships are nontransferable.

The Plus One option enables students and faculty/staff to sponsor one other individual over the age of 18 living in the same household as a “Plus One” member.

• Student Plus One member: $110 per semester (additional)
• Faculty & Staff Plus One member: $27 per month or $324 per year (additional)
• Retiree Plus One: $150 per 6 months or $300 per year (additional)

Plus One Rules

General Disclaimer: RecSports and the Division of Student Life reserves the right to limit Plus One membership if the demand affects the use of the RecSports facilities for the current student body.

1. Proof of UT Knoxville affiliation must be presented to purchase membership for all options.
2. UT employee must be a RecSports member to sponsor a Plus One member.
3. The Student, Faculty and/or Staff member sponsoring the Plus One must be present at the time of purchase.
4. Plus One memberships must be purchased in person.
   • Photo ID, proof of age, and verification of common residence of the Plus One member will be required as part of the RecSports membership application process.
5. Proof of common residence is required of both the sponsoring member and Plus One member. Accepted forms of proof are:
   • Driver’s license
   • Lease agreement
   • Marriage certificate
   • Car registration
   • Pay stub dated within the last 30 days

   General Disclaimer: The Department of RecSports has the right to review additional forms or documents to verify proof of residence.

6. Memberships can be purchased at the Membership & Outreach office (main floor of TRECS) Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. This office is closed during University holidays.
7. Issues concerning validity of Plus One member for membership will be turned over to the UT director of human resources and the Department of Human Resources for verification if an employee; or the Student Judicial Office if a student.
8. Plus One memberships are valid as long as the sponsor is affiliated with UT Knoxville. When the sponsor is no longer affiliated with UT Knoxville (no longer employed or enrolled) the Plus One membership is terminated.
9. Additional fee of $8 will be charged for a Plus ID Card for new members without UT Knoxville ID.
   • UT Plus photo ID cards will be processed at the VolCard office (408 Student Services Building, Circle Park) after you have paid for your RecSports membership.
   • If your RecSports card is lost or stolen, the cost for a replacement card is $30 at the VolCard office.
10. Payment options are cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Apple/Google Pay, or payroll deduction (for UT employees only).
    • The payroll deduction option is only available to regular faculty/staff that are paid through the university’s payroll office. Faculty, staff members, and their Plus One may elect to have their membership fees deducted monthly through the payroll office from UT employee’s payroll account. RecSports accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Apple/Google Pay. Members choosing one of these methods of payment will be required to pay for a monthly or yearly membership in advance at the current membership rate. All Plus One memberships are linked to the RecSports membership account for the sponsoring UT employee or student.
11. Cancellation Information: In order to cancel payroll deduction membership, you must fill out this FORM.
12. Plus One members are not eligible to participate in Intramural Sports or Club Sports.

Dependent Rates

• Student first and second Dependent (Ages 0–23 years): $70 each per semester (additional)
  **NOTE: Areas of use in facilities are restricted for ages 0–16 yrs
• Faculty & Staff first dependent (ages 0–23 yrs): $25 per month or $300 per year (additional)
• Faculty & Staff second dependent (Ages 0–23 yrs): $15 per month or $180 per year (additional)
• Retiree first and second dependent(s) (age 0–23): $90 each per 6 months or $180 each per year (additional)

Dependent Rules

• Dependent must live in the same household and be under the age of 23. (Certain restrictions are listed in the participant handbook for dependents).
• Parents or guardians must accompany and have direct supervision of all dependents under 18 years of age.
• Parents or guardians are expected to be familiar with the age restrictions posted in each activity area.
• Dependents age 16 and under are not permitted in group exercise classes or in the fitness areas at any time.
• RecSports staff may ask for valid birth certificate to verify each dependent.
• ** NOTE: Areas of use in facilities are restricted for ages 0-16 years.

• Guest Policy: Guests are permitted to use the facilities while in the company of a valid university participant if they purchase a guest pass. A guest pass can be purchased at the TRECS welcome desk and SAC information desk and is valid for one-day use at all recreation facilities. Participants are responsible for the conduct of their guest and must stay with their guest at all times. If a sponsor leaves a facility, the guest must also exit.
• Guest accompanying RecSports Member: $15 per day, effective July 1, 2023.

Membership is a privilege, which may be modified or revoked at any time by RecSports or the university.
