Intramurals Overview

The UT Intramural Sports program is dedicated to providing all members of the university community, regardless of age, gender, handicap, skill level or past experience, opportunities to participate in recreational events in a fun and safe environment.

Annually, the program offers a wide range of team, dual, and individual activities aimed at maximizing student participation. Activities include flag football, sand volleyball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, bowling, dodgeball, racquetball, kickball, floor hockey, inner tube water polo, ultimate frisbee, and much more. The majority of intramural activities are free to UT students who have paid their student activities fees, and all faculty and staff who have paid membership fees to RecSports.

The intramural sport staff is constantly working to improve the program and the information provided to current and future participants. Our staff is here to serve you and ensure that your experience is a positive one. If you have any suggestions or need additional information, email our staff at imsports@utk.edu or call 865-974-2382.

Extramural Opportunities

Extramural sports are tournaments held throughout the school year at colleges and universities throughout the state, region, and country. Teams and officials have the opportunity to represent UT against top intramural teams, club teams, and officials from other schools (extramural tournaments are open to all teams and officials, not only championship teams or championship game officials). Tournaments are offered in flag football, basketball, softball, as well as, other activities. So if you think your team is ready for the next level, contact our office for more information.

Student Officials Association (SOA)

The goal of the SOA is to focus on the service we provide the community. The hope is for each official to gain a greater knowledge of their sport and give them opportunities to advance to higher levels within officiating. We accomplish this mission by collaborating with community organizations that are in need of officials. We also send a number of highly qualified officials to officiate regional tournaments held all over the nation at many different colleges and universities.

Partnering Community Organizations:
