Why Officiate Sports?
Being a sports official is a great way to learn problem-solving skills, manage conflict, build confidence, and meet new people! No experience is necessary, we will train officials for each sport through rules and court/field clinics. All that’s required is a general understanding of sports, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
Opportunities
We employ over 100 sports officials year-round to referee our various team sports (flag football, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and much more) and yes you’re still allowed to play in the sports.
Officials start out making $10.50 per hour and we schedule based on your weekly availability so hours are flexible. The majority of our officials work between 10-20 hours per week and games are generally played Sunday through Thursday between 5:00pm and 11:00pm.
Important Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled University of Tennessee – Knoxville students and cannot hold a graduate/teaching assistantship. Successful applicants must also provide documentation the individual is authorized to work in the US:
Option 1 – U.S. Passport
Option 2 – Driver’s License AND Social Security Card
Option 3 – Driver’s License AND Birth Certificate
Option 4 – VolCard AND Social Security Card
Option 5 – VolCard AND Birth Certificate
